#003: Five
We have almost 40 members! Yay! :D I'd like more, but I'll take what I can get. ;) I have a few things I'd like to say before announcing this week's prompt.

+ I know it's only Thursday, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to post on Friday. I hope to get a better turn out this week than we did last week, considering I'm posting it a whole day early than planned!

+ I have a few promotions that I'd like to spread as well. Please join the following communities: twilightfiver and twilightpotter :D

Welcome to the third post of fridaydrabble! I hope you all enjoy this prompt and that you're inspired to write something! This week, I'm going to give you a number prompt and hopefully, one you'll be inspired to write something. I'd like to set down a few rules before I give you the prompt...

1. You may post whatever you write in other communities as long as you link back to this community in every post!
2. If you only write a drabble, please post it in a comment. If you write something longer, which is encouraged, please post it in a public post at another community or at your own journal and link it in a comment to this post.
3. As the subject of your comment, please use this form: "Title: Character/Pairing (Rating)". Another example of that subject would be "Brownies for My Baby: Edward/Bella (Rating: PG)".

1. This week's prompt is #5 (five). I want you to write about 5 things Twilight related. I'm sure that's probably a little confusing for some of you, so I'm going to link you to three different fics that will help explain the concept to you better than I can, lol.

- Ten Facts You Didn't Know About The Twilight Series by anythingbutgrey
- Ten Facts You Didn't Know About Jacob Black by anythingbutgrey
- Five Lies Mike Newton Never Told by anythingbutgrey

I chose this prompt, because I really enjoy reading fics like the ones by anythingbutgrey. I can't wait to see what you all come up with! I will probably end up writing quite a few fics for this prompt as well. ;)

Take care,

Um, just to clarify, it's five things rather than five times. Sorry, it may be really obvious - it's just been a long day and I'm just half sleep. :)

I'm not sure I know what you mean?
Carmenhumbuggirl on March 20th, 2008 06:47 pm (UTC)
Five times would be five times a character did something - such as dated someone they shouldn't. Five things would be more like five things you didn't know about a character. It's a tiny distinction really - I just wanted to make sure that you weren't looking for five things rather than a 'five ____' in general.

Yeah, I'm not even making much sense to myself today, lol.

Oh, I see what you mean now! ♥

Title: 5 Things Bella Would Miss; Bella; Rating: PG
5 Things Bella Would Miss (If She'd Ever Take the Time to Actually Think About That)

1. Hot Showers

Bella stepped into the shower, feeling the hot water immediately increase her temperature. She’d just left La Push and felt dirty with sand and cold all the way through to her bones. She stood under the showerhead, letting the water cover every part of her. She closed her eyes, enjoying the heat swelling over and through her, but became sad as she realized that once Edward turned her, the feel of a hot shower would be beyond her. And no matter how long she stood in hot water, it would never heat her through the way it did now. She put her face to the water, trying to rinse away the thought.

2. Her Pulse

Bella collapsed onto the bottom bench of the bleachers, breathing hard. Today the gym teachers had decided to just run the students for the duration of class. But Bella hadn’t been able to make it all the way through. As she sat on the bench gasping for breath, she could hear her pulse in her ears. Could feel her heart pounding in her chest. These things told her she was alive. Telling her that she was accomplishing physical growth (no matter how limited) as she exercised. After being turned, she’d be able to run tirelessly, but she realized it would feel empty somehow.

3. Sleep

The teachers at Forks High School obviously teamed up to determine the best way to drive their students into the ground. Four tests in one day was a great way to achieve this goal. And she’d been up late the night before studying. And she’s been running in gym. And Edward had driven her home in his typical fashion, causing every muscle in her body to remain tense until the car stopped in front of her house. She was exhausted. She lay her head on her pillow feeling her eyes slam shut they were so heavy. As she dropped off to sleep, she wondered what she would do when she became mentally or emotionally exhausted as a vampire.

4. M&Ms

She dumped the bag on her bed and began to separate them into pairs. Two by two, but never two of the same color, that wasn’t allowed. Bella worked in silence, feeling her mouth water at the thought of crunching through the hard candy shell and letting the chocolate melt in her mouth. When she was done, she had three stray red M&Ms. She tossed them in her mouth, chewing quickly and swallowing. Now she could enjoy the rest, a pair at a time, feeling the tangy tickle on her taste buds. Could she really give these up for eternity?

5. Change

Sometimes Bella got really tired of her long, brown hair. She wanted to cut it. Or dye it. Sometimes Bella wanted a piercing. A tattoo. Something that would shake up her tedious image. When she lived with Renee, her mother would take her to get her haircut whenever Bella felt this way. It was a nice, temporary change. But, as a vampire, Bella would be stuck looking the same as the day she was turned. And, there would be no change. No chance for her to look any different. For her to be different. She was not only gaining eternal youth and beauty, but eternal monotony.

5 Things You Didn't Know About Esme Cullen; Esme Cullen(G)
1. When times are stressful, Esme cooks. In her human life she picked the habit up from her mother and even in vampiric death, she continues it. When Edward comes home, distraught, eyes black, and says he needs to go to Alaska, she bakes cookies. She worries he won't come back. She isn't sure how long she can be without her first son, the one she's most attached to. Carlisle gives her a strange look when he sees her arranging the baked goods on a china plate, but says nothing. The cookies sit there, growing hard and stale until Esme is compelled to throw them away.

2. Although she refused to name her baby boy for the three days he was alive in fear it would cause her to grow too attached, she always knew she'd name him Carlisle.

3. When her first husband Charles was drafted for WWI, every night Esme prayed that he'd be shot down in Europe. It's been almost 90 years since then and she still feels the guilt of wishing to take another human's life. No life should be stolen, no matter how much the keeper of that life may deserve it.

4. She never believed in True Love or Love At First Sight until she met Carlisle when she was sixteen years old. His very presence took the pain in her leg away, took her breath away. It still amazes her that the Universe brought her and Carlisle together. She knows that she's just as much in love with him as she was in 1911 when they met and that she always will be. If she could, she's sure she'd still blush every time he smiles at her or brushes his lips against hers.

5. What she misses most about being human is not sleeping, but the ability to cry. The occasion she would need to cry is very rare, but she would like to have the option. She hates that she can only make dry sobs in her throat and that her breath hitches sporadically. She knows she spent too much of her time as a human in tears, but even vampires need to cry every once in a while.

Re: 5 Things You Didn't Know About Esme Cullen; Esme Cullen(G)
That was lovely. It's funny, I hadn't read this but I had alwaysimagined Esme as a baker when push came to shove. Although in my little world, she sent the cakes, cookies, brownies to the hospital...
